
PESHAWAR: On the final day of the four-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Peshawar and Sialkot at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saadat Hassan and Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider visited the stadium to watch the match. They praised the batting performances of Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Haris. Ground Director Jafar Shah and Peshawar Region President Gulzada accompanied them during the visit. They also met with the two umpires, Imranullah Aslam and Qaiser Khan, who commended Peshawar’s hospitality.
The Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs and the DG Sports inspected various sections of the stadium, particularly the dressing rooms, pitch, pavilion, media box, and seating areas. They met with the match management, ground staff, and concerned officials, expressing satisfaction over arrangements related to security, cleanliness, spectator facilities, lighting systems, and other administrative matters.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Saadat Hassan said that the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is taking serious steps to promote sports in the province. He added that organizing inter-provincial and national-level competitions in historic venues like Imran Khan Stadium plays an important role in encouraging youth towards sports.
DG Sports Tashfeen Haider stated that events such as the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy are instrumental in strengthening Pakistan’s cricket structure. He directed the concerned departments to provide more facilities for spectators and ensure an ideal training environment for players.
Later, both officials met with the players and encouraged them to continue working hard to improve their performance so that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s representation at the national level becomes even stronger.
