PESHAWAR: Cricket activities have resumed at the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar after a gap of twenty years and with them the tradition of live cricket commentary has also returned. This time T20 matches are being broadcast live on Pakistan Television (PTV) as well as several private television channels. Commentators are present in Peshawar to cover these matches and provide lively commentary. Among them is Pakistan’s renowned cricket commentator Raja Asad Ali Khan.
Since Peshawar is traditionally known for its hospitality the KP Sports Writers Association has always organized events in honor of visiting guests. Another long-standing tradition during cricket matches at the stadium has been that visiting chief ministers or governors would pay a visit to the media enclosure.
Continuing this tradition, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on the special invitation of Amjad Aziz Malik, President of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, visited the media enclosure. On this occasion, the Sports Writers Association presented him with a traditional shawl and cap as a gesture of respect.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that sports journalists visiting from across the country would be provided with every possible facility. He added that sports journalists play a vital role in projecting the province’s soft image.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi further stated that sports journalists coming from all parts of Pakistan should consider themselves guests of the provincial government during their stay in Peshawar.
Raja Asad Ali Khan thanked the Chief Minister and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association for recognizing his services and honoring him on the occasion.
