PESHAWAR: The women’s competitions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-21 Games are progressing in full swing. In various events played yesterday, Peshawar, Bannu and Hazara each secured three gold medals, while Swabi claimed one gold medal.
According to details, in the women’s handball final organized under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar Region defeated Mardan Region by 7–1 to clinch the title. Similarly, in the throwball final, Peshawar beat Bannu by 2–0 to secure another gold medal. The badminton final was contested between Hazara and Peshawar, where Hazara displayed an outstanding performance to emerge as champions. In the table tennis final, Mardan Region defeated Peshawar to win the trophy.

On this occasion, Adviser to the Chief Minister for Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand distributed prizes among the athletes. He was accompanied by DG Sports Tashfeen Haider, Additional DG Rashida Ghaznavi, Deputy Director Sports Nazia Zaki, Director Munir Abbas, Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, Sajid Khan, DSO Gul Rukh, Badminton Coach Bushra, and other dignitaries.
In women’s squash, Peshawar Region defeated Hazara Region by 2–0 to claim the title. In the women’s judo event, Bannu secured first position by winning three gold and two silver medals, while Hazara finished second with two gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Peshawar claimed third position with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

In the women’s cricket matches played at the Secondary Board Peshawar Ground, Bannu Region defeated Dera Ismail Khan by five wickets in the first match, while in the second match Malakand Division beat Hazara by nine wickets to qualify for the second round. In the women’s karate event, Peshawar secured first position, Kohat finished second, and Hazara Region claimed third place. Senior Vice President of the Provincial Karate Association, Khalid Noor, distributed prizes among the players.

Meanwhile, in the women’s basketball event held at the Secondary Board Hall, Peshawar, Peshawar Region clinched first position. President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Basketball Association, Din Muhammad, was the chief guest. In the final, Peshawar defeated Hazara Region 45–2. For Peshawar, Isra Ali scored 27 points, Laiba scored 9, and Noor-ul-Haram contributed 6 points. Earlier, in the first semi-final, Peshawar Region comfortably defeated Mardan Region by 52–6.
