Peshawar and Hazara Reach Badminton Final

PESHAWAR: The women’s Jiu-Jitsu competitions of the U-21 Games, organized under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, concluded successfully. Peshawar Region displayed an outstanding performance securing first position by winning all six gold medals across different weight categories. Peshawar athletes clinched gold medals in the +44kg, -48kg, -52kg, -57kg, -63kg and -70kg categories. Additional Director General Sports Rashida Ghaznavi attended the event as chief guest and distributed medals, trophies and cash prizes among the winners. She was accompanied by Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, District Sports Officer Gul Rukh, President of the Provincial Jiu-Jitsu Association Tahseen Ullah and other officials. The competitions were held at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda. Peshawar Region topped the standings with six gold medals while Bannu Region secured second position with two silver and two bronze medals. Hazara Region finished third with one silver and three bronze medals.

Meanwhile in the women’s badminton event of the U-21 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games, teams from Peshawar and Hazara qualified for the final. In the first semi-final, Peshawar defeated Malakand 2-1, while Hazara beat Mardan 2-0 in the second semi-final. Secretary of the Provincial Badminton Association Mian Sadaqat Shah and Organizing Secretary Bushra were also present on the occasion. In another event of the U-21 Games, Peshawar defeated Mardan 2-1 in the women’s volleyball match played at Peshawar Board Ground. Mardan won the first game 25-21, but Peshawar made a strong comeback by winning the second game 25-23 to level the match 1-1. Peshawar then dominated the third and final game 25-15 to secure the match 2-1.
