PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa players delivered an outstanding performance at the National Junior Badminton Championship, with Qari Muhammad Umer clinching the Under-19 singles title, while in the Under-17 category, KP’s Najam-us-Saqib secured first position after defeating his provincial teammate Abdul Haseeb Khan.
The National Junior Badminton Championship, organized by the Pakistan Badminton Federation in Lahore, witnessed impressive performances from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa players, who achieved notable successes and proved their talent by reaching and excelling in the finals of various categories.
In the Under-19 singles final, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Qari Muhammad Umer defeated Punjab’s Husain Shahzad in a tough contest with scores of 21-19 and 21-18 to claim the championship title.
In the Under-17 singles final, Najam-us-Saqib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated his fellow KP player Abdul Haseeb Khan in a thrilling three-game match with scores of 17-21, 21-18, and 21-18 to win the title.
In the Under-15 singles final, Punjab’s Haroon Ahmad defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hasnain Khan to secure victory; however, Hasnain Khan’s overall performance was highly commendable.
Expressing satisfaction over these achievements, Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Association, Sadaqat Shah, praised the players for their excellent performances and stated that KP’s young athletes are proving their potential at the national level. He also paid rich tribute to coaches Hayat Ullah and Masood for their dedication and professional training, emphasizing that these successes are the result of the coaches’ tireless efforts.
The remarkable performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa players has been widely appreciated in sports circles, with hopes that these young athletes will continue to shine and bring further glory to the province at the national level.
