PESHAWAR: The opening ceremony of the Bank of Khyber Para Table Tennis Championship was held in Peshawar the other day. The championship is being organized in connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, with the aim of promoting equal sporting opportunities, inclusion, and empowerment for persons with disabilities. The championship is sponsored by the Bank of Khyber and jointly organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Table Tennis Association and the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF). The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony was Mr. Muhammad Asif,

Head of Human Resources, Bank of Khyber. In his address, he reaffirmed the Bank’s strong commitment to promoting inclusive sports and encouraging para-athletes across the province. The ceremony was attended by several distinguished personalities, including Mr. Syed Ali Bakhsh, Director, Special Education Complex; Mr. Rizwan, Deputy Director, Special Education Complex; Ms. Shazia Gul, District Officer, Social Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Absar Ali, Table Tennis Coach, Directorate of Sports; National Champion Abdullah Jan; Mr. Waseem, Managing Director, Association for Rehabilitation of Physically Disabled (ARPD); Mr. Nasir Gul, Special Education Complex; and Mr. Muhammad Noman, Physical Instructor, along with other notable guests.

On the occasion, the Bank of Khyber also donated a professional table tennis table to the Special Education Complex as part of its support for para sports development. Vice President (Finance) of the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation, Mr. Kifayat Ullah Khan, served as the Tournament Head. He has been a pioneer of para sports activities and has played a significant role in promoting para sports for more than 30 years.
