MARYLAND: Pakistan’s rising squash star Mahnoor Ali from Peshawar clinched the US Southeast Junior Gold Squash Circuit 2025 title in Baltimore, Maryland, after defeating her younger sister, Sehrish Ali, in an all-Pakistani final. The championship match, played at the Leutkemeyer Athletic Center, featured an exciting display of talent and determination from the Ali sisters. Mahnoor, the elder of the two, secured a 3-1 victory in a hard-fought four-game battle to claim her 22nd international gold medal. She opened strongly by winning the first game 11-7, but Sehrish showed resilience and leveled the match by edging the second game 11-9. Mahnoor then regained control, displaying her dominance in the next two games with scores of 11-6 and 11-7, sealing the championship in style. With this triumph, Mahnoor further extended her remarkable medal tally, while Sehrish, despite her determined effort, had to be content with the silver medal, narrowly missing out on what would have been her 19th international gold. Both sisters have been making Pakistan proud with their consistent performances on international stages, earning admiration for carrying forward the country’s squash legacy. Experts believe their commitment and continued achievements reflect the rise of a new generation of female athletes determined to revive Pakistan’s historic dominance in the sport.
