PESHAWAR: A lacrosse training camp was successfully organized in Lower Chitral under the auspices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lacrosse Association in which more than twenty players participated.
On this occasion, Chitral Lacrosse Association President Riaz Raees was the chief guest along with Secretary Nawabzada, Hasnain Khan Malakand Lacrosse Association and local sports enthusiasts also participated and welcomed the start of lacrosse in Chitral.
On the special instructions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lacrosse Association President Syed Salar Jahan, a lacrosse clinic was organized with the cooperation of District Sports Officer Lower Chitral Muhammad Khalid Khan, with the aim of laying the foundation of this new sport in Chitral. 20 young players participated in this workshop, who were taught the basic principles, techniques and playing methods of lacrosse. Practical exercises were conducted on basic aspects like stick handling, passing, cradling, shooting, and teamwork during the training.
Addressing the ceremony, District Sports Officer Muhammad Khalid Khan appreciated the efforts of the Lacrosse Association and assured full cooperation for the promotion of lacrosse in Chitral. He promised to provide facilities for training camps and championships in the future as well.
On this occasion, lacrosse sticks were presented to the District Sports Officer so that regular lacrosse activities could be started in the area. This clinic is part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lacrosse Association’s project under which lacrosse is being introduced in all the districts of the province to provide opportunities for the youth to play at the national and international levels. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lacrosse Association will continue to organize regular clinics, championships, and talent hunt programs at the district level in the future to promote lacrosse in Pakistan.
