PESHAWAR: The General Body Meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chess Association (KPCA) will be held on May 17, 2025, in Peshawar. Advocate Abdul Rauf Khan Ghori has been appointed as the Election Commissioner for the upcoming KPCA elections.

The primary objective of this meeting is to elect new office-bearers for a four-year term (May 2025 – May 2029). These elections will be conducted in accordance with the current sports policy and the Constitution of the Chess Federation of Pakistan.
All eligible members of the Association are required to attend this important meeting, and their participation is highly encouraged. Further details regarding the venue and agenda will be shared soon.
In addition to electing new leadership, KPCA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting chess at the educational level. Under the Prime Minister’s National Mind Sports Initiative, and in collaboration with the Chess Federation of Pakistan, FIDE (World Chess Federation), and the Asian Chess Federation, the association is actively promoting the world’s largest Chess-in-Education program across schools and colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This initiative aims to integrate the cognitive and intellectual benefits of chess into students’ academic lives.
Furthermore, to enhance a competitive environment and provide players with international exposure, KPCA will regularly organize FIDE-rated tournaments at the district and divisional levels. These events will help players earn international ratings, sharpen their skills, and gain opportunities for academic and personal growth.
A key asset in this endeavor is the presence of a local FIDE Rating Officer from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whose expertise will play a crucial role in the effective execution of these initiatives. The availability of local technical expertise will facilitate smoother rating processes and provide valuable support to players and organizers alike.
KPCA looks forward to enthusiastic participation from its members and remains excited about its future plans to promote chess throughout the province.
These sentiments were shared in an official press statement by Muhammad Humayun, General Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chess Association.
