PESHAWAR: Under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a Sports Festival for orphaned and destitute children of Zamung Kor will be held on January 21 at the Model Institute for State Children, Zamung Kor, Charsadda Road, Peshawar.
Various competitions will be organized during the festival, including cricket, football, badminton, kabaddi, basketball, tug of war, athletics, volleyball, and musical chairs. This was stated by the Director General of Sports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tashfeen Haider, while talking to the media. On this occasion, Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Director Model Institute Sadaqat Ullah, and other important personalities were also present.
DG Sports Tashfeen Haider further said that the festival, starting from January 21, will continue until January 24. The opening ceremony will be inaugurated by the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Sports, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, while the closing ceremony will be graced by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, as the chief guest.
Boys and girls from Zamung Kor Peshawar, Zamung Kor Abbottabad, Swat Campus, D.I. Khan Campus, Akhpal Kor Swat, SOS, and other orphan care institutions will participate in the event. More than 500 children are expected to take part in these competitions.
DG Sports said that the purpose of organizing this festival is to provide children with healthy activities and to offer them a platform where they can showcase and polish their talent.
