PESHAWAR: Abdul Basit, Anas Rafi, Fahad Khan and Maliha Shah emerged victorious at the KP Quaid-e-Azam Junior Boys and Girls Squash Championship, which was organized by the Provincial Squash Association and held in Peshawar. The concluding ceremony was held yesterday, where Senior Vice President of the Provincial Squash Association, Ehsanullah, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was accompanied by former World Squash Champion Qamar Zaman, Mohibullah Khan, Director PSF Group Captain Irfan Asghar, Chief Organizer and Senior Coach Munawar Zaman, Muhammad Waseem, and other notable personalities.
In the Girls Under-15 final, KP’s Maliha Shah defeated Syeda Zahoor in a closely contested match with scores of 11-8, 5-11, 12-10 and 11-8.
In the Under-9 category final, KP’s Abdul Basit defeated Muhammad Moaz Zaman with scores of 11-6, 6-11, 11-3 and 12-10 to claim the title. In the Under-11 final, PAF’s Anas Rafi beat his fellow PAF player Atif Ali Naz with scores of 13-11, 11-8 and 11-7. Meanwhile, in the Under-13 final, PAF’s Fahad Khan defeated his teammate Arbaz Zaib with scores of 11-6, 11-7 and 11-8 to lift the trophy. At the end of the event, prizes and trophies were distributed among the winning players.
