DUBAI: Pakistan U19 produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat India U19 by 191 runs in the final of the DP World Asia Cup U19 at the ICC Academy Ground, Dubai, lifting the prestigious title in emphatic fashion.
After winning the toss, India opted to bowl first, but Pakistan’s batters turned the tables with a massive total of 347/8 in 50 overs. Star batter Sameer Minhas played a sensational knock of 172 runs, anchoring the innings with maturity and authority. He was well supported by Ahmad Hussain, who contributed a valuable 56 runs. For India, Deepesh Devendran was the standout bowler with three wickets, while Khilan Patel claimed two.
Chasing a daunting target, India got off to a brisk start as Vaibhav Suryavanshi attacked Ali Raza for 20 runs in first over. However, Pakistan’s bowlers staged a strong comeback, removing four Indian batters inside the powerplay, shifting the momentum decisively in their favor.
India were eventually bowled out for 156 in 26.2 overs, with Deepesh Devendran (36) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (26) offering brief resistance. Pakistan pacer Ali Raza led the bowling attack brilliantly, picking up four wickets to seal a comprehensive victory.
For his outstanding performance throughout the tournament, Sameer Minhas was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series.
The awards were distributed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who congratulated the Pakistan U19 team on their remarkable achievement as the young Green Shirts celebrated a memorable Asia Cup triumph.
