PESHAWAR: Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (CTA), Habibullah Arif said that Chinese culture is among the oldest and deepest cultures in the world, with a 5,000-year-old history enriched with traditions, philosophy, arts, literature, and civilizational values. He highlighted that the essence of Chinese culture revolves around harmony, balance, hard work, strong family values, respect for elders, and collective well-being.
The Director General expressed these views during his visit to the Chinese Cultural Center “China Window” in Peshawar. During the visit, he toured various galleries, signed the Friendship Wall, and penned his remarks in the guest book.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Habibullah Arif said that Pakistan-China friendship is not only strong at the economic and political levels but is also thriving on cultural foundations. He emphasized that cultural exchanges between the two countries bring people closer, eliminate misunderstandings, and foster mutual respect and cooperation. In the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he underscored the importance of expanding cultural cooperation to further strengthen people-to-people ties.
He noted that institutions such as China Window Peshawar, the Chinese Cultural Center Islamabad, and Confucius Institutes in various universities of Pakistan are actively promoting the Chinese language, arts, and cultural activities. At the same time, Pakistani students and artists in China are introducing and promoting Pakistani culture abroad.
Habibullah Arif further stated that these cultural linkages not only strengthen bilateral friendship but also serve as a vital tool of people-to-people diplomacy. He suggested that both countries should organize joint cultural festivals, art exhibitions, media exchange programs, and academic collaborations so that the slogan of “Pakistan-China Friendship” becomes a practical reality.
