PESHAWAR: The five-day Peshawar Teqball Championship successfully concluded at the Qayyum Sports Complex, Peshawar. A total of 55 male and female athletes from across the district participated in both individual and double categories.
Organized with the support of United Consultants, the championship featured competitive finals in multiple categories. In the men’s singles final, Hidayat-ur-Rehman defeated Hasnain Riaz by two sets to one. In the women’s singles, Safa Marwa secured a straight-sets victory (2–0) over Hina Khan. In the mixed doubles final, Hidayat-ur-Rehman and Safa Marwa triumphed over Munim and Hina with a 2–1 win, while in the men’s doubles final, Munim Siddiqui and Jalaluddin outplayed Hidayat and Yaseen, winning by 2–1.
The closing ceremony was graced by Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tashfeen Haider, who distributed prizes among the players. Prominent attendees included Senior Vice President of KP Teqball Association Taufiq Ahmad, Chairman of Pakistan Teqball Federation Rahat Mian, Vice President of KP Teqball Association Akhtar Rasool, General Secretary of KP Teqball Association Mian Wajahat Ali, Regional Sports Officer Peshawar Kashif Farhan, CEO of Riwayat Foods Asghar Syed, Youth Assembly Member Tazkiya Syed and Founder of Teqball in Pakistan Mian Absar Ali.
DG Sports praised the talent and performance of the participating athletes and assured continued support from the Directorate General Sports for the promotion of teqball in the province.
