PESHAWAR: Under the supervision of District Administration Mohmand and District Sports Office Mohmand, in collaboration with Regional Sports Office Peshawar, a splendid and colorful cultural celebrations were organized for the first time in Mohmand district, with the aim of promoting the local culture and literature of the area.

Renowned and emerging poets from across the district participated in two-day poetry festival and entertained the audience with their poetry. The poets highlighted social aspects by making local languages, traditions and cultural values the subject of the poetry festival. Local poets, while talking to media representatives, said that this was the first time that literary and cultural poetry festivals were being held under government patronage, which not only provided an opportunity to connect the younger generation with their language and literature but also strengthened cultural identity.

A Kabaddi tournament was also organized in collaboration with Regional Sports Office. The tournament was an attempt to revive traditional sports, which was appreciated by the public. Positive and constructive activities like sports and literature have strengthened the process of cultural revival in Mohmand district. It is clear from the public participation and interest of government institutions that cultural activities in the merged districts are taking a new dimension. District Sports Officer Mohmand, while talking to the media, said that our aim was to promote cultural and sports activities in Mohmand district so that the youth are attracted towards positive activities and local traditions can be preserved. The public has appreciated these events and expressed the hope that more such programs will be organized. While the events gave an opportunity to local talent to emerge, the public also got entertainment opportunities. The three-day Mushaira and Kabaddi tournament in Mohmand district were part of the government’s efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage. These activities are not only cultivating culture but also providing a sustainable way for youth to connect with their identity.
