PESHAWAR: A spectacular cricket tournament concluded in Tehkal Bala under the auspices of the Uqab Cricket Club, with Hedar zaman Eleven clinching the title. Former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and President of the KP Olympic Association, Haji Ghulam Ali, graced the final as the chief guest and distributed trophies and cash prizes among the winning and runner-up teams.

Speaking on the occasion, Haji Ghulam Ali stated that the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possess immense talent in cricket, equal to players anywhere in the world. “All they need is recognition and patronage,” he added.
The final match, held at Chand Mari Ground, featured a thrilling contest between Haider Zaman Eleven and Banto Eleven. In a display of skill and sportsmanship, Hedar Zaman Eleven emerged victorious. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 along with the winner’s trophy, while the runner-up was awarded Rs. 10,000 and a trophy.
Former MPA Atifur Rehman also attended the event. The arrival of the former governor was met with an enthusiastic reception from local youth, who showered him with warmth and took selfies. White pigeons were released as a gesture of celebration.
The tournament saw the participation of 32 teams, highlighting the growing passion for cricket in the region. In his address, Haji Ghulam Ali emphasized that such events not only promote cricket but also channel the energies of the youth towards positive and healthy activities.
“These tournaments provide a platform for young people to showcase their talent while learning discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills,” he noted. He urged the youth to seize such opportunities, develop a keen interest in sports, and build their physical and mental strength.
Praising the organizers, Haji Ghulam Ali lauded Uqab Cricket Club for hosting a successful tournament and expressed hope that similar events would continue in the future, providing a constructive and peaceful outlet for the younger generation.
